At an altitude of a thousand meters, the Castreja woman ascends and descends the arid mountain slopes with her flock, draped in her distinctive black cloak. Just as the burel wool resists the elements, these artisans preserve ancestral traditions. Shepherding, spinning, and weaving symbolize autonomy in the most isolated village in the country. Telluric and grounded, this feminine spirit is maternal and soothing, marked by pride and diligence. Her knowledge heals, conserves, and creates community, communicating in the Castrejo dialect. This intimate portrait captures women, mountains, and minerals with the freedom of poetry.
