SYNOPSIS
Between the Scenes, by Rui Simões, is a documentary about the filming of Os Maias: Cenas da Vida Romântica, a cinematic adaptation of Eça de Queirós's eponymous novel by director João Botelho. By following the cast both "on" and "off" the scenes of that period film, Between the Scenes acts as an extension of the Maias family story, exposing the artifice of cinema and moving fluidly between reality and fiction.
