Real Ficção
Created during the Estado Novo fascist regime to control students coming from the portuguese overseas colonies, the Casa dos Estudantes do Império (House of the Students of the Empire) in Lisbon, with branches in Coimbra and Porto, was fundamental to the independence movements in the colonies. This meeting point hosted future leaders of future anti-colonial and national movements such as Agostinho Neto and Amílcar Cabral. The documentary The House recovers memories from testimonies of the House's survivors, while simultaneously fictionalizing excerpts from Pepetela's A Geração da Utopia.
